Planning a Summer of Adventure 2021

As we move into our second year of owning our Flagstaff E-pro it was time to take it on an amazing adventure across 3800 miles! As you can imagine planning a trip likes this takes time, effort, and patience. We traveled to seven national parks, one national monument, and the Little Switzerland of America (Ouray, CO) over 22 days. What a journey!

We started planning in November 2020 using RV Trip Wizard. I love that software and it makes it super simple to plan! I love simple, because all of our lives have elements of chaos, right!?! So once I had all the destinations picked (all the national parks) I started to zone in on the specific locations and pick a few RV parks by reviews and proximity to our destinations. This was our first big trip and I was not comfortable boondocking in the 100+ degree weather that was going to await us, so we chose to stay at campgrounds with full hookups all along the way. Once all the RV parks were picked I started to call in January of 2021 for our trip in June of 2021. I follow a few families that highly recommend booking 6-months out from your travel time if you are wanting to hit the National Parks…and they were not wrong! So thankful I booked so far out.

The one crucial thing I couldn’t effectively plan for was the rise in gas prices from my December planning to our June trip…oh my goodness!!! Gas prices rose a $1ish more per gallon then when I had planned…so yeah that hurt the budget! No matter the rise in prices we were not going to miss this epic vacay around the national parks. So off we went!

Our route took us across Missouri, up through Iowa, over South Dakota to our first stop, Mount Rushmore. Then over Wyoming up to Montana. Across Montana to Idaho where we stayed for quick access into West Yellowstone, and trips down to the Grand Tetons. I can’t wait to go back and spend a month in those locations!! We left Idaho and headed south into Utah where we stayed and visited Zion and Bryce Canyon. Then headed south again into Arizona to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. We then headed back north to MOAB, Utah were we stayed and visited Arches, Canyonlands, and Dead Horse Point State Park. After our stay in MOAB we traveled to Ouray, CO which was one of the most picturesque locations I have ever been too…and it truly does look like Switzerland! After that we headed across Colorado into Kansas and then back to Missouri. 3800 miles over 22 days! So much fun, and so many memories. I will post more for each location we traveled and give breakdown of RV park, national park, and things we loved!
